Numerous features make a Discovery yacht special. But perhaps two features make them unique…with the result that you can operate your boat quite differently from any other.

Firstly it is in the concept of the raised saloon (some call it a deck saloon). Here in a Discovery you can sit and enjoy panoramic vision from the saloon. We understood that if you are going to visit some of the most beautiful places in the world you won’t want to bury yourself down in the hull. On passage, off-watch crew can still see where they are and be part of the voyage – while staying dry and comfortable.

The second hallmark of the whole Discovery range is the raised navigation area. From here you can control the autopilot, with the radar/plotter to hand, and able to keep a good all round lookout. Out of the elements watch keeping is so much less tiring, and it is this, as much as the easy sail handling that truly make these two-handed boats. From here you are also still in touch with the rest of the crew – so much safer and more sociable.

Powerful electric winches come as standard, as does electric in-mast reefing. All systems are led back to the safety of the cockpit ensure that the boat can be operated single-handed – and without any physical effort.
