ARC 2017

19th November 2017

The ARC is a ‘must do’ for many sailors, and attracts over 200 boats and 1200 people every year to sail 2700 NM across the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia.

The ARC is for everyone; families with children, tough racers, cruising couples, big boats and modest boats. Crossing the Atlantic together, but having their own adventures. More than just a boat race, the ARC is about friendships made ashore in the two weeks of pre-departure activities continued over the radio net at sea. It’s about arriving in Saint Lucia to be met on the dock with a rum punch and a chilled beer, knowing you have achieved something fantastic – crossing an ocean on a sailboat.

  • "Pat and I have discovered ‘ocean sailing’, actually really enjoying living at sea; this has a great deal to do with the Discovery 55 which has been specifically designed with easy ocean passage making in mind."

  • "Many thanks – Kingfisher is behaving immaculately and the split rig is awesome out here now that we have found the wind. You guys should be very proud of creating such a winning formula for long distance cruising."

    Peter Smith, Discovery 55 Kingfisher

  • "I have to say what a fan I am of Discovery Yachts. We've been living aboard as a family of 4 on our Discovery 55 for 2.5yrs (from Melbourne, Australia to Corsica), we're doing a 4yr circumnavigation. The boat is a well thought out long term liveaboard cruiser. "
